Businesses and not-for-profit organizations in Ontario are required to comply with the accessibility standards set out in the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 (AODA). These rules are designed to ensure accessibility for the disabled. If a company or non-profit organization employs 20 people or more, it must submit an accessibility compliance report by December 31, 2023. This report is a legal requirement under the AODA.

The Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 (AODA) is the legislation that establishes a process for the development, implementation and enforcement of accessibility standards. Government, business, not-for-profit and public sector organizations must comply with these standards.
Importants facts
- The rules you need to follow depend on the type and size of your organization. You’ll need to count your employees.
- The differents levels are : fewer than 20 employees, between 20 and 49 employees, more than 49 employees.
- You are exempt if you have no employees in Ontario.
