Networking | Connecting talents with Match.coop
Match.coop is an innovative platform developed with support from the governments of Canada and Ontario, and funding from Employment Ontario. It addresses a need that has been felt for some time: that of entrepreneurs looking to start up collective projects, but finding it difficult to find partners who share their aspirations and possess the necessary complementary skills. The platform aims to connect these individuals, even outside their usual networks, to create collective enterprises with a positive impact.
Match.coop simplifies the process of finding project partners. Users define criteria such as education, experience, interests and vision, then the platform uses an algorithm to match compatible profiles.
Empowerment | Providing tools for communities in Attawapiskat
Impact ON is currently at the heart of an ambitious and promising project to create a cooperative on the Attawapiskat First Nation, an indigenous community in northern Ontario. The need for a better-equipped, less expensive grocery store in the city was becoming urgent, and our team stepped in to help the community make the most of the situation. After mobilizing the community and outlining the various options available, we provided support at every stage of the cooperative’s start-up process. The result of several years’ work is now coming to life: the Attawapiskat Co-op, a store managed by the Attawapiskat community itself.

Over the years, cooperation has undeniably proved to be an effective, flexible development formula, adaptable to the different needs of populations aspiring to greater economic and social well-being. This cooperative ideal has only been possible thanks to the involvement of people who believe in cooperative values and principles. To reward them and give them visibility, Impact ON annually recognizes the outstanding commitment of cooperatives and social enterprises, as well as individuals who have distinguished themselves within the movement, with three awards.
